Got the keys to the
Got the keys to the new (to me) apartment this morning. The phone man just left, after connecting the line, and the first thing I do is log on to check email and blog. What a dork.
This apartment has been empty for over a month, and the bugs have taken over. There are insect carcasses in every nook and cranny. I should have brought my vacuum with me today to attack the graveyard.
I’m not certain the last resident really cleaned the place when they left (not that I’m going to try very hard at the old place). I spent about an hour attacking the mildew, soap scum, and several years’ accumulation of grime with CLR.
Does anyone know how to clean spots of an old mirror? The bathroom mirror is spotty and generally hazy. Also, I’ve got hardwood floors now (YAY!) — any cleaning/maintenance tips for those?
Back to cleaning and unpacking while I wait for the gas man…

hardwood floors + dog = better keep Gracie’s nails trim !!! (a dog can do alot of damage to a wood floor)
this probably isn’t the most scientific way to do it, but i usually sweep once a week, then go over it with a swiffer (awesome!) and then spray some furniture polish and skate over it in my socks…makes them shiny!
Waiting for the “gas-man”, eh? Something about that isn’t quite sounding right. Hmmmm….
have new dog. have hardwoods and no problems so far. as for maintenance, try the pledge thing (maybe it’s denise’s swiffer) that you can static cling mop the floors. awesome!
