I don’t like this design. It’s too cold, too masculine, too formal: so not me.
The glass head on the side was my last minute back-up plan. You see, I ordered this phrenology head and have been waiting for it to come in. Turns out the sender completely screwed up my address and made up some street that is nowhere in Dallas. So, UPS sent it back to them. They are sending me another, but it won’t be here for several days still. I was only planning on buliding the design around that! Argh. So, I located the glass head at Pier 1 the other day and thought it would work as a back-up.
I also thought I would like the color blue on my site. I am now so over blue.
I’m not going to build any more of the site in this design. The archives will continue to not work. All you get is the current stuff and the webcam for the next week. But, I promise to keep blogging, just for you.
Oh, yesterday was my one year anniversary of blogging! If I had the archives working, I would point you to my very banal first post, but they aren’t, so I shall spare you from that.
The cam is online, so you can watch me geek out.
Over a month ago, my dog decided to play with my glasses and destroyed them in the process. Today I finally got new specs. Well, they are new, but the same frame I used to have. I looked at some frames that were possibly cooler, but decided I liked the geek grrl look I had going on with these frames.
Before I got the new glasses, I got my eyeballs checked by the doctor. I learned today that I need to wear my glasses while driving: I’m just outside the legal driving definition of “20/20″. Be cautious of riding with me. I may not think that car in front of us is as close as it is.
The eye doctor also tested my ability to see in 3D. I basically have little sense of depth. This explains why I was never able to see those 3D posters that were so cool in the early 90s where things would appear if you stared at them long enough. Now I realize that I’m not dumb, just visually impaired.
So here it is! I’m not totally finished yet, but I’ll be working on it more tonight. I knew that you were missing your daily dose of the random thoughts, so I put this up as soon as it was in a legible state. There is still some tweaking to be done to the style sheet and template. Then I need to plug all the content in and get the archives together. First, though, I’m out of Coke and need dinner.
So, what do you think?
Anil pointed me to the Internet Speed Test. Nifty little tool for checking how fast you are connected to the world wide web.
Cool idea: Top Ten Blog! It’s a group blog where the participants add to a David Letterman style top ten list. When 10 are suggested, a new topic is started. There’s some funny stuff there. Link via Blogs of Note.
Find Your Star Wars Twin
On neuroticism: “Princess Leia — A confident & calm individual who does not crack under pressure (e.g.,. when being threatened by Lord Vader). She is brave and relaxed, even when in great danger (e.g., when disguising herself as a bounty hunter to gain access to Jabba the Hutt’s palace).” Gotta live up to my namesake in some respects, right? How incredible is this? I just reached into a 7.7 oz box of Runts without looking and grabbed five orange ones. Five. All the same color. Crazy.
Congratulations, Michael and Ari, on your latest collaboration!
