I told myself I would

September 25th, 2001

I told myself I would go to bed by 1am tonight. I’ve been averaging a bedtime of about 4am the past five or so nights. Unfortunately, my clothes are not dry, so I have to wait for them to complete their cycle.

So, Saturday night. Matt and I went and grabbed a sandwich before meeting up with Erica and Mark and journeying to the Plano Balloon Festival. It was a gorgeous night, the temperature was comfortable, the company was excellent. Watching the balloons glow was amazing. I haven’t ever seen anything like that. Richard Marx was performing and I had to laugh at myself for knowing at least some of the words to every song he was singing. Plano put on an amazing fireworks display, they went all out.

Afterwards, the four of us went to Josh’s house, where Mark was dogsitting (hey Josh, you probably don’t know I was at your house. Thank you for letting me sit on your couch and partake of your entertainment system). We watched Raising Arizona, which I had never seen before. Very funny stuff.

Matt took me back to my place, where I introduced him to Gracie. We walked her around the block and talked. And walked around another block and talked. And another. And another. Then we ended up walking around the track across the street several times. All told, we must have walked over a mile and a half. Then we sat on my front stoop and talked some more. About everything. Until sunrise. I think this could be the start of a beautiful friendship…

To bed now! Fresh warm sheets = Yummy.
