So I seem to have

January 31st, 2002 6 comments

So I seem to have found a source of income! I’m going to be working with a staffing company doing odd temporary jobs. One of the questions on the application: Will you wear a costume?

I’m pretty excited about it. It means some variety in jobs and places. I will get to meet all sorts of people and hopefully that will translate into some interesting tales to tell here.

My first gig? Doing registrations at the American Traffic Safety Services convention all next weekend. See? Already interesting.

I just saw the most

January 30th, 2002 3 comments

I just saw the most horrible thing.

I was driving across Beltline Road on my way home from today’s interview (really a screening thing for an IT Consulting company – now that they have met me, they will shop my resume around). I pull into the right lane because the middle lane occupant is going about 8 miles/hour under the speed limit. Suddenly, there is a Camry that is just coming to a stop, then cruising a bit, then stopping right in front of me.

My first response is to get aggravated. “Turn, already!” I think to myself. Then I realize that they aren’t turning anywhere, they aren’t lost. Traffic is heavy to my left, so I can’t get over. A car comes up behind me and is annoyed by the stopped cars in front of it and honks.

Then I see the passenger start pounding his fists into the driver. Full pull the arm back behind the head and punch with all your might. Three, maybe four times. I can’t believe it. Traffic clears to the left, I pull into the middle lane and look into the car as I pass. The driver is a woman and she is mouth wide open bawling. A sight I don’t know if I will ever get out of my head.

I immediately reached for my cell and called 911. By the time I spoke to a dispatcher in the right city, I was a good three or four minutes away.

I pray with all my might that the police located them.

This is an amazingly beautiful picture taken of two interlocking heart patterns formed in slush when two vans backed out of a parking lot. So cool.

My interview today went really

My interview today went really well. I met with an awesome woman and it was probably the most fun and enjoyable interview ever. I should be hearing back from her early next week about meeting with the rest of the web team there. This one could be really good.

Still alive. Benadryl is evil

Still alive. Benadryl is evil and knocked me off my butt all day yesterday. Big pile of goo. Couldn’t focus. Not good.

Staying busy. Two interviews this week. AntiBloggies start Friday. Ideas coming together. Progress. Good.

Vague. Short. Just checking in.

Hey there. How are you?

January 22nd, 2002 7 comments

Hey there. How are you? It’s been a few days, I know.

I’ve been waiting on my site to move to its new server. It is PHP instead of ASP now, so if you have something bookmarked and can’t find it, just swap the letters “.asp” out with “.php”. Then you should be able to find what you were looking for. I’m still fine-tuning the site, so be patient with me.

So, big news: I quit my job. And I have no backup plan. Talk about lighting my candles – I am burning a biggie. I am very happy about my decision and proud of the way I handled the situation.

I am starting to get worried about how I’m going to pay rent on the first, though. Yikes. Know anybody hiring? I am available.

I can do anything: web development, content writing, washing windows. You name it, I’ll do it.

Thanks to everyone who came out to the DFW Blogs happy hour last night, especially the new faces. I think a good time was had by all, especially those who went for gelato!
