I’m such a trendsetter. My
My mom spotted Halle Berry on the front page of USA Weekend. Seems she’s cut her hair like mine. Everyone wants a piece of this sassy action.

Despite having to be at work at seven am, I really enjoyed working the ATSSA convention.
Who knew that people who make safety cones and guardrails and reflective things get together every year? And have been for 32 years now? I was surprised. From my booth, I registered people from as far away as Israel, Japan, and Colombia, and got to see people dressed up in all sorts of wacky reflective gear.
Coolest of all was making a new friend. Gabe runs G3 Entertainment, which puts on all sorts of events in Texas. Gabe wanted me to link to his site a lot so that Google would notice him. So, techno, events, dallas, lasers, production, DJs, NXNG 2002. There you go, Gabe!
Gracie = EVIL DESTROYER OF SNOWMEN
The proof:
This is my little foot tall snowman sitting on top of the car. I moved him to the grass so the rest of the
neighborhood could enjoy him, when Gracie came over, sniffed, and promptly batted his head off. The neighborhood was left with a headless snowman.
Had a lovely Valentine’s evening. Matt called and told me he was going to take me to my favorite restaurant and that he had a surprise for me. Weee! Surprises! And steak! A man after my heart. The surprise was the Buffy the Vampire Slayer complete first season DVD. Yay! After dinner, we walked Gracie around the block and went to see A Beautiful Mind so we would know what all the Oscar hype was about and ate Sour Patch Kids. It was a wonderful evening. Thanks, you.
the friday five!
1. What was the first thing you ever cooked?
I’m not sure about the first thing ever, but I do recall helping my mom bake blueberry muffins on Sunday mornings for breakfast. Yummy.
2. What’s your signature dish? Chicken Fried Chicken at the Black Eyed Pea. I rarely cook.
3. Ever had a cooking disaster? In the fifth grade, we were assigned the task of creating our own recipes. Judging by the success of M&M cookies, I figured Skittles cookie would be interesting, at the very least. I tried several variations of the recipe: mixing the skittles into the cookie dough (only resulted in the cookies being permanently stuck to the cookie sheet), placing them on top after cooking, etc. They didn’t taste great regardless of the way they were cooked.
I seem to have some sort of disaster everytime I try and cook. It all basically stems from ignoring the directions and thinking I know it all. I skip some important step or put in the wrong ingredient. I have messed up 5-minute rice.
4. If skill and money were no object, what would make for your dream meal? Steak and cheesecake.
5. What are you doing this weekend? Packing and cleaning. Good times.
anilive.net is the 100th DFWblog! Woohoo!
Just got off the phone with Farhad Manjoo of Wired. He says there should be an article about blogging in the next several days. A snippet of our conversation:
FM: So how many blogs do you read a day?
Me: Too many.
FM: What, like 10?
Me: Far more than that… [gratuitous DFWblogs pimping] … so more like 10 an hour.
FM: So are you employed full time?
OMG! OMG! OMG! The AntiBloggies are in USA Today today! *happy dance*
update: The AntiBloggies are now the “Off Topic” link for today’s Good Morning Silicon Valley and a reporter from Wired wants to speak to us for an article about blogging.
World Domination Step #1: Become media darling.
Crazy busy. Apartment is a stinky mess. I’m moving out of it in ten days. Do I clean or just pack? I need boxes. I need help moving. I need about a month to sort through the crap that has been getting lugged from apartment to apartment.
I have clothes that don’t fit and things that haven’t been used in years and years. Yet I still have trouble parting with them because maybe someday I’ll be that size again (no matter that the clothes would be terribly outdated by then) or maybe I will need to do that crafting project involving the ivy stencil. Extremely unlikely.
Choas. Work. Stress. Madness. Uncertainty. Yet still, hope.
