Concerned parties should note that
Concerned parties should note that I have finally seen Monty Python and the Holy Grail. This, along with my recent first viewing of Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb , means that now I am fully aware of any and all pop cultural sayings that derive from these works. You can now use the following in my presence and I will laugh, knowing full well that you are (wo)man of the world:
“Bring out yer dead!”
“You can’t fight in here, this is the War Room!”
“I fart in your general direction!”
“You’re gonna have to answer to the Coca-Cola company.”
“Just a flesh wound!”
“I don’t think it’s quite fair to condemn a whole program because of a single slip-up.”
“Help! Help! I’m being repressed!”
And of course, the oft-used in daily vernacular:
“Ekki-Ekki-Ekki-Ekki-PTANG! Zoom-Boing! Z’nourrwringmm!”
“You can’t fight in here …” is just about the best line ever. I was incapacitated when he said that. I had to pause and rewind because I was laughing so hard I missed the next few minutes of the movie. Great flicks, both of them.
I *finally* saw Holy Grail last year when it came out on DVD with captions. Next one to try — How I Learned…
Best Strangelove trivia (from imdb):
Major Kong’s comment about the survival kit (“a fella could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas with all that stuff”) originally referred to Dallas instead of Las Vegas, but was overdubbed after President Kennedy’s assassination in Dallas.
i did not know that.
*makes note of the trivia and will use lipreading skills to watch for that*
Oh boy.. Next you will tell us you never saw The Texas Chainsaw Massacre!
It’s lovely to see you join us in the cultural smorgasboard that is 1991.
I’m so retro.
It’s more of a “Zwoop-Boing”
Or you could just say The Knights Formerly Known As the Knights Who Say Ni. Seems a smidge easier :^)
