During last night’s DFWblogs Cocktail Event, Denise, Tina, Ruaraidh, and I skipped out to grab some food at Chuy’s. Ruaraidh, being from Scotland and all, has a Scottish brogue. The waitress seemed greatly amused by this, trying to learn some regional phrases. She appeared to get the impression that Ru was fresh off the boat when offering us appetizers:
Waitress: So would you like some queso to start off with?
[Everyone gets that blank "Does anyone want an appetizer?" stare, which the waitress interpreted as Ru not understanding what queso was.]
Waitress: [looking at Ru] Cheesy dip?
I was unable to contain my laughter.
