I’d like to thank Network Solutions for sending me an email this morning letting me know that one of my domains had expired two weeks ago. This is the first notice I’ve received. I have until Friday to renew it or it will be deleted. Whee. 000domains kindly sends me notices 60 and 30 days before the domains expire. I guess Network Solutions would rather freak you out after the fact and hope that you don’t bother to renew so they can sell it to someone else.
I am not in a good mood.
Is anyone else nervous about the fact that our pictures are going to be on the SXSW badge? I’m really not looking forward to standing in line to get my mugshot taken so that I might carry it around my neck for five days.
I can understand that this helps them in fighting badge fraud, but really, I’m thinking that this picture can’t be anything but bad.
Bad like my university student ID. The day I had that taken, it was 99% humidity out on a hot August day in central Florida (read: no sea breeze). My cheeks were ruddier than usual, I had sweat all my makeup off, and my hair was just plain bad. I was told that I looked like a Polish man on my ID. And I carried that for three years. But I didn’t have to wear it.
SXSW is no longer taking electronic submissions for the photos, so no chance of taking a wacky photo and fancying it up in Photoshop. So I’m trying to think about what I can do to ensure that I have a wacky photo on my SXSW. I’m considering a wacky hat. Of course, that would mean I need to find a wacky hat. Maybe I’ll just go for wacky facial expression.

Don’t you love it when you get up really early to be somewhere and get all dressed up to be there and you drive there in morning traffic only to be told that you aren’t needed? You know I do.
Amazon’s prices are “so HOT”, their Electronics tab seems to have caught fire.

Adventures in Temping:
Thursday and Friday were spent doing data entry for a company that handles pet registrations for several counties in the the US. In particular, I was entering animal info for Maricopa county in Arizona. In entering form after form, I noted the more interesting names.
The most popular names in the area are Bandit, Max, Harley and Buddy. Then you have the prissy names: Princess, Duchess, or Precious. Owners that have multiple pets often named with a theme: Snoopy, Shroeder, and Linus the beagles or Garth and Reba the Lhasa Apsos. Several names are clever, like Coal, Tabasco, or Gunslinger. Many more are just plain odd: Liberty Gizmo, C.A.T. (pronounced Sadie), Root Beer, and Pooper.
Pooper? Who names their dog Pooper? You’re just asking for trouble.
I just found the blog of Marie McBride, who was a year above me in high school back at ol’ RHS. What a small world the net makes!
