Yesterday afternoon, feeling the need
April 24th, 2002

Yesterday afternoon, feeling the need to escape town a bit, Matt and I drove in search of bluebonnets. We took I-45 south towards Ennis and ended up driving down State Highway 34 through Bardwell (population 583). Just outside of Bardwell, right before the Bardwell Resevoir, we found this field full of the wildflowers and even some rusted antique farm equipment (conveniently placed or just left there?). It was beautiful and the fragrance of the state flower was on the breeze. I learned I don’t care for the smell. But, I have always wanted to frolic amongst a field of bluebonnets, and yesterday I got to do that.
