I’m diving in.

November 25th, 2002

I took a huge leap today. I quit my afternoon office job. No more financial safety net. Now it is make Apt Minds succeed or die trying.

I went on a retreat with the adult singles group at the new church I have been attending this weekend. I was amazed by how easily I fit in. I think that being around people I know have similar morals makes it easy for me to settle into being myself. They are a fun group and I am glad I got an extended chance to get to know them better. If you are coming to the potluck this Saturday, you may get a chance to meet some of them.

We played football this weekend and I caught a pass. If you have ever had the chance to see me play a sport, especially one where things fly at me, you know that I would normally shriek and duck when a ball comes my way. Not this time. I caught the ball with exceptional grace. I was so pleased with myself, I demanded high fives from the game’s quarterback.

I’m going to my Dallas cousins’ for Thanksgiving and have been told to bring a Chardonnay. Any recommendations?

    Apt Minds is gonna rock!
as for the chardonnay, i have to admit that i really like that wine in a box (classy, huh?)… but i don’t think you should pay my suggestion any mind =)

Not a big Chardonnay guy, but I’ve been happy with Bogle or La Crema. I prefer Bogle, and it’s usually a few dollars less. Go to Sigels or Central Market, and they’ll hook you up with whatever you want. Good luck with Apt Minds. I may give you a shout for a project that I need to get done early next year.

The Jones know their food and drink so I would go with the Chardonnay, maybe you should call them and ask if they could suggest a brand. I heard on a news report that the best wine to serve on Thanksgiving is a White Zinfandel. Good luck with your business……………….

This is going to sound worse than it is. But I think you and I share the same morals and YET, I don’t attend a church. Perhaps, sharing the same Judeo-Christian based belief system might be more of what you were saying. Or mebbe you think I’m a freaking hack who stabs people and is judgmental. haha. ha. *cough*

Hmm. I don’t think either of that about you, Tina!

What I meant was that I knew where they came from the minute I met them, whereas meeting Joe on the street, I don’t know anything about what he believes. I know about your morals now, Tina, but I didn’t know them that fateful day we met.

Granted, I am making a big assumption about the group’s character. But since I met them in a church of my specific denomination, I assume that they believe in similar tenets. I don’t assume that about people I meet at a Cocktail Event.

This is not to say that I don’t give people the benefit of the doubt. I often assume the best of people.

Er. . .back to wine. . .Cakebread makes an awesome Chardonnay, but it’s expensive and hard to find. Toasted Head is good, too, and has a fun label. But, for what you can pick up on the way, try Alice White. It’s about $10 and has a nice oaky flavor. You should be able to get it at your grocery store.

I am forever rooting for you, Leia.

Bonterra is nice tasting, it’s one of my favorite inexpensive chards. It’s from California and goes for about $13-17 a bottle depending on where you get it.
