Is it just me?

December 29th, 2003

Am I the only person who hasn’t left any of the Lord of the Rings films
being
absolutely blown away by them? I only seem to really appreciate the film
on a
second viewing and from the comfort of my own home. I think it has
something to do
with being in a more comfortable chair and having the ability to pause the
film so
I can go to the bathroom.

I certainly try to appreciate the LOTR films. I’ve seen the 2nd and 3rd
films at
the Galaxy on the Largest Screens in Texas. I liked the film well enough, but,
really, when
my butt goes numb 2/3 of the way through and I’m wishing that the story
would quit
tidying itself up so nicely with super-extended Frodo close-ups because now
my back
is numb, the film quits being enjoyable.

So, is it just me?

Well, I can’t say that I’ve been blown away by any of the LOTR films since I haven’t seen any of them. The books were top-notch, though. hahaha.

i thought they had just one large screen and everything else was “normal”.

You could be right. Theatre #9, I think?

I wasn’t blown away by the 2nd film, but the third one knocked me on my ass. My brain was on sensory overload and for a few hours I couldn’t even process what I had watched.
How is the UA Galaxy? It always pops up as an option when I browse through moviefone.com, but someone once compared it to the Lowes Keystone, which isn’t much of a compliment.

I went to see the first LOTR film with my brother and niece. Perhaps it’s genetic, but *all three* of us fell fast asleep half-way through it. I never bothered to see the others (don’t see any reason to pay money for a nap).

I couldn’t even get through the first one on DVD. Just found it really boring and stupid.

I enjoyed all three, but no. 3, in particular, overstayed its welcome for me. Too many endings. Just save the damned world and hurry up and live happily ever after, damn it!

I have to say I loved it… on DVD it just is not the same … unit I get a TV bigger then me that is! 3 hours was too long for dancing with wolves.. this was ok.

I was blown away by the first one. I was sort of blown away (but not as much) by the second one. I liked the third one, but wasn’t blown away at all by it. So you’re not alone.
I prefer the extended edition DVDs every time though. I can’t wait for the 3rd one to come out! (Almost a year? How will I make it?!?)

LOTR is one of the best movies series of all time. Hehehe, right up there with Star Wars. The only thing I have against them is that they are so good, I get really into them, and it is a huge shock for them to end, leaving me back in reality. I wish I was part of that world. Then again, I would probably be cast as a Hobbit or something. :)
