Tastes Like Chicken
I’m heading home to Florida next weekend. My parents are in the process of moving from my hometown of Panama City to Melbourne, and I’m going to sort through years of my crap like middle school yearbooks and Drama Club shirts. I’m most excited about the trip because I’ll get to take my first long trip in my car, my sister is also coming into town, I’ll get to see Darcy, and we’ll all go down to Miracle Strip Amusement Park one last time before it closes for good to make room for more condos on the beach.
My parents’ new house is, according to reports from my dad, “like heaven”. It’s on a small lake where native birds hang out, looking for food.
One bird, an American Egret, is particularly bold in its desire for food. In their first few days in the house, my dad grilled up some chicken and fed it to the birds (cannibalism!). This Egret liked the chicken so much, that my dad caught the bird standing at the back door wanting more!

The view outdoors from the inside of the house, with the hungry Egret waiting for more chicken wings.

It’s like our group and wings.
I mean it’s like our group and RIBS!!!!!
You gotta watch out for those egrets. One day, they’re taking chicken from the grill. Next thing you know, somebody loses a finger.
Seriously, I though egrets ate leaves and things.
you should grill up some Egret and eat that. i hear it tastes good with a1 sauce.
Is tht you slakker??????
have a good trip. but watch out for those egrets, I hear they’re tricky…
are you sure you won’t make out with me in the haunted mansion? man…you’re no fun anymore.
Leia is spending the week-end at our old house, so no egrets! The egret got bolder and stood on top of the grill (cold) and in a chair on the patio to look into our Florida room, waiting for my husband to grill up some more! We have another neat picture of Leia’s sister (Carolyn) sitting on the bank of the lake with a swan! They are sitting in the same position and appear to be looking at the same thing in the lake. Any of Leia’s and Carolyn’s friends are invited to visit us and the birds at our new home! Leia’s mom
new post…new post…i’m craving more of your zany antics!
I think the egrets might have gotten to her.
Are those the same things that live along the banks of the Trinity and Turtle Creek?
