Rock the Vote
September 30th, 2004
Texans have until October 4 (next Monday!) to register to vote for
November. Are you registered?
If not, print and fill out the voter registration form and mail it to
your local voter registration offical.
If you’ve moved since the last time you voted, you may wish to
update your registration so you can vote in your neighborhood.
If you moved within the same county, all you have to do is change
your address online.
If you moved to a different county, you must register again.
For more information on Texas voter registration, check out the Texas Secretary of State’s Voter Information page.

It’s super easy to register to vote. In most states if you don’t have a state driver’s license or state id you can use the last four digits of your social security number instead. (Which came in handy recently for myself since uh, I’m still driving around on a TN license while living in IN. Getting the IN license is proving a tad more difficult since they want 5,374 pieces of identification.)
I just found out that if you are lazy, like most folks, you can actually request an absentee ballot and vote via the mail. I live in North Carolina and my county let’s us do that.

There is no fathomable(sp) reason why one would not vote
Thanks for the space.
Texas only lets you vote by mail if you’re actually out of the state, old, or disabled. But during the early voting period – from 17 days to 4 days before the election, you can vote at any polling place in the county – even if you’ve changed your address. The problem with the SoS online address change is it requires you to have the number off your actual voting card, which a lot of people misplace.
