I aim to misbehave.

April 27th, 2005

This alone will make the next five months worth living:

Serenity

Anything else that happens between now and September 30 is just icing on the cake.

Ok, maybe I’m one of the ones to blame.
I don’t watch TV. No cable, no satellite, nothing.
So my first exposure to Firefly came after the series had already been cancelled. I picked up the DVD box set as soon as it came out, and watched all the episodes in two consecutive days.
I have never before nor since felt so motivated to get in my car, drive to hollywood, find an executive, and kick him in the nuts as I was when I watched that last episode of Firefly.
I, too, am eagerly awaiting Serenity, but I can’t help but think that instead of two hours of finely polished, meticulously honed entertainment this year, I could have had 22 hours of pretty damned good entertainment instead.

hey, i already got this link from gnumatt’s blog
really, if you’re going to be an a-lister don’t you at least have to provide fresh/unique content?
now, some real questions about this movie as i am not a crazy fan boi like the rest of you:

    • do i need to watch the dvds of the show before seeing this movie?
    • where does the movie fall in the timeline with the show?
    • is it all the same actors? or did they upgrade?
    • if so, who got upgraded?

To the first Andy, I shake a clenched fist towards Hollywood in solidarity, brother.

    (1) That I don’t know. I certainly hope it can stand on its own, but the direction the plot seems to be going based on the trailer is an extension of plot points that arose during the series. A better question is “WHY HAVEN’T YOU YET?”
    (2) Six months after the show left off.
    (3) Same core actors (all of the original nine).
    (4) I’d bet the ship got upgraded (Serenity (the ship) is often called the “tenth” cast member on the show) with fancy special effects.
