RIP Fish

I had to euthanize Fish this evening. He’d gotten very sick, quite possibly with Fish Tuberculosis, and wasn’t responding to any medicines.

Thanks, Fish, for the good times and the laughter.

I can’t believe a $3 fish made me cry.

When you say euthanize, do you mean you flushed him? All toilets lead to the sea.

    R.I.P. Fish.
(Is it possible that he lacked a mate? or was there just too much green around him??)

Carolyn, I did fairly extensive research on the most humane way to help a fish depart this mortal fishbowl. I ended up adding several drops of clove oil, a natural fish anesthetic, to his water. It made him go to sleep very peacefully and quickly. Then, I added a lethal dose of clove oil to the water and put him in the freezer to make sure he never woke up. :(

Gordon, I could be wrong, but I don’t think he needed a mate unless I was trying to breed them. Betta are fairly solitary fish. The green in his bowl was a living plant that he always seemed to enjoy. Also, Hulk didn’t always guard his bowl!

Poor frozen fishy. I’m sure he appreciates your kindness in that big fishbowl in the sky.

So Sad, my condolences. I had a beta who committed suicide. He got stuck in the door to the castle, and drowned. Poor Sushi, now he has a new friend in Fish. They can swim together in fishy heaven. Er not because they are betas.

Male Betas like Fish HAVE to live alone, otherwise they’ll commit betacide. Just hold up a mirror and see how angry a beta gets. I’ve heard that the plants put in those beta bowls are bad for the fish.

And can I add that I’m glad you chose the clove oil method over the other suggestions on that website.

Ahhh right you are then. Well he looked very nice, lovely contrast in colours. Is a replacement on the way?

Carolyn, that plant was a live underwater plant, not one of those make-the-fish-live-in-the-roots plants.

Fish 2.0 will be acquired this weekend.

Fish 2.0? With the dynamic multitasking fins? Sweet.

A robotic fish? *Sigh* People are SO lazy these days. :(

Aww. Sorry to hear about your fishy. If it helps at all, I’m sure that he and *my* lost betta, Floaty, are living it up and picking up fish ckicks right now. :)
