Bookmark Now
I’m late to the party, but I would be remiss if I did not mention the current Virtual Book Tour. This tour features “Bookmark Now”, which is edited by my friend Kevin Smokler. I’ve known Kevin for several years, having met at SXSW. Kevin is a generous soul, always making others feel welcome, enthusiastically embracing community, and cheerfully encouraging those around him.
And now, he’s put together this book.
The publisher describes “Bookmark Now” thusly: “A few big names in fiction, a handful of below-the-radar faves, and a lot of writers to watch discuss ‘why books? why now?’ in the collective credo about the future of literature.”
Kevin sent me a pre-release copy of “Bookmark Now” which I’ve slowly been making my way through. And, when I say “slowly”, I mean “I’ve only had a chance to read it when I did laundry last week”. So, I’ve read Kevin’s introduction and the first essay, “Not Fade Away” by Christian Bauman. What I’ve read so far makes me want to go back for more. I’m especially looking forward to the piece from Pamela Ribon, as I enjoyed reading Why Girls Are Weird so much. Luckily, that’s the next one in the book, so maybe I’ll get to it next laundry day.
I encourage you to check out the other stops on Kevin’s tour, listed below, to learn more about what others are saying about the book. “Bookmark Now” will be in stores June 1. Buy it now at Amazon. Also, if you’re in a city where he’s stopping, go see Kevin on tour. Tell him Leia sent you. You won’t be disappointed.
