Neighborly
October 30th, 2005
I met a neighbor (the first I’ve actually spoken with). Her name is Linda and she has three kids who like to use my driveway to do circles on their bikes.
I was considering shaking my fist at them and telling them to get off my lawn, but thought it would be more prudent towards neighborly relations to not establish myself as the cranky curmudgeon this early in the game.

There’s another option. Politely ask the kids to stay in the driveway and not on the lawn on their bikes. Most kids will obey old curmudgeonly types. I know.
Now now Leia, don’t you remember being a kid doing circles in driveways in good ol’ PC?
You know what’s strange? I’ve lived in my building for over 2 years now, and I’ve barely SEEN my neighbors, let alone talked to them. It’s crazy.
Wait until Winter sets in and everyone upwind of you decides to save money by heating their house with firewood. ~(:>)
at least now you can you use the “i know your mother” line.
From what I’ve seen, you live awfully damn close to me now (my house is the one on the SW corner of the Peavy/Oates intersection). Welcome to the not-quite-lakewood-hood. Hit me up and we’ll grab a slice and a beer at the Lover’s Pizza next to the Casa Linda Theater sometime.
