Fight or Flight

Thinking this week was bulk trash pickup week, we piled branches on
the curb last Sunday. Turns out, next week is bulk trash pickup week (it’s not the week with the first in it, it’s the first full week of the month). Today, a lovely $261 citation appeared on the door, along with a photo taken of our pile of branches on Monday. Would you pay it or fight it?

Sounds like you have a jerk neighbor somewhere who called you in. I’d call the city, explain, and see if you can get out of it. Unfortunately that will probably require you to move everything off the curb and then back again for the real trash day.
I can’t believe the city has time to give out citations to law-abiding, tax paying people like you!! Don’t they need to go catch some criminals or something?
I’d do like Brian suggested and call and offer your explanation. Since its your first offense, pehpas they’d be willing to make it a warning? can’t hurt to try.
Fight it! Tell them your mistake; if it was your first “offense”, they should reduce it to a warning. And like Brian said, you must have a jerk neighbor who reported it — in my neighborhood we have people put their bulky trash out early all the time, and though it makes us shake our heads a bit, I don’t think anyone would actually report it to the city!
Texans is crazy. I predict a riot.
Definitely fight!
