A few weeks ago, I purchased a Roady XT receiver so I could have XM Radio in my car. XM has made my lengthy commute so much more enjoyable. Before, I’d listen to NPR, but I was getting tired of the non-stop talking. Now, I have dozens of commercial-free stations to choose from.

The best feature of the Roady XT is “TuneSelect”. With TuneSelect, you can program in your favorite songs or artists as they come on the radio. Then, any future time that song or artist plays on any XM station, the receiver beeps and you can push one button to go directly to the song.

I bought my receiver at Sam’s for $35 for myself, and after enjoying it so much went back a few days later to pick up one for Jim. At that point, they were marked down to $18. Check eBay for sellers in this price range. Service starts at $12.95/month, and the price decreases if you commit to a longer time period, or have more receivers in your family. I’d also recommend googling around for an active coupon code which might save you on activation costs and get you a few free months of service.

If I were smart about this need to blog every day this year, I’d write up a bunch of evergreen entries that I could use on days when nothing remarkable happened and I’m too tired to think of something witty. Instead, you get this phoned-in entry.

I may have located the prettiest place in the U.S., and they actually let you get married there. You don’t even have to decorate, because God already did.

After class today, I met up with Amanda and Ashlee for some shopping, eating, and movie watching. We saw Catch and Release (pretty bad), looked at wedding magazines, and even perused some wedding dresses. I did put one hanger over my head briefly, but I’m not ready to try them on yet.

More importantly, we ate steak.

Jim’s out freezing his butt off camping with the boys, so I’ve spent tonight having a date with myself. I picked up some movies and a pizza and have been snuggled in a blanket by the fire. I make quite a nice date, if I do say so myself.

Thinking this week was bulk trash pickup week, we piled branches on
the curb last Sunday. Turns out, next week is bulk trash pickup week (it’s not the week with the first in it, it’s the first full week of the month). Today, a lovely $261 citation appeared on the door, along with a photo taken of our pile of branches on Monday. Would you pay it or fight it?
