The Most Delicate Zipper in the World
The dress arrived today. Hooray for places that can instantly ship something labeled “wedding” (most traditional bridal outfits take 10-14 weeks to arrive).
I tried it on and I think it is a winner. It’s lacier than it appeared in the photo, but I think it will still fit the casual vibe we are going for. I’ll need to get some minor adjustments made. The length is good (which was my biggest concern).
I tried the dress on tonight and, breaking tradition, showed Jim. In attempting to delicately remove the dress to put it back in its wrapping and protect it until May, I couldn’t get the zipper down. So, I asked Jim (who was cooking chicken with one hand) to unzip the dress. That’s when the zipper pull broke off.
I’m not sure if that’s a good omen, or a bad one.

Wedding dress zippers should be torn off on the wedding night.
You will now be trapped in the dress until May. At which time, no one will want to be around you because of the beat up dress.
I think it is a sign you weren’t supposed to show him. Send it back, get a fresh one, and don’t show it. (It doesn’t count if it is identical, does it?)
