The Beautiful People
My sister has a new job where she works with the most evenly-toned, gleamingly-white-smiled, tan group of people I’ve ever seen collected in one place. Either that, or someone loves them some Photoshop.

Nearly 6.5 years after buying my last pair, I bought new glasses today. My allergies have been causing a lot of irritation in my eyes, and my contacts have been driving me nuts. One just plain fell out yesterday, deciding it would rather face a life of drying to a crisp rather than stay in my eye one second more. The time had come to start rotating glasses back into my seeing regimen.
I’m amazed by how crisp everything is with the glasses. I’ve willingly sacrificed some visual quality in order to wear more flexible contacts. Now, it’s like I see the world in high definition.
The dress arrived today. Hooray for places that can instantly ship something labeled “wedding” (most traditional bridal outfits take 10-14 weeks to arrive).
I tried it on and I think it is a winner. It’s lacier than it appeared in the photo, but I think it will still fit the casual vibe we are going for. I’ll need to get some minor adjustments made. The length is good (which was my biggest concern).
I tried the dress on tonight and, breaking tradition, showed Jim. In attempting to delicately remove the dress to put it back in its wrapping and protect it until May, I couldn’t get the zipper down. So, I asked Jim (who was cooking chicken with one hand) to unzip the dress. That’s when the zipper pull broke off.
I’m not sure if that’s a good omen, or a bad one.
I’ve been really into personal finance blogs lately, and I’m starting to pick up a few wedding blogs here and there. It’s made me realize that what I really want these days is a personal wedding finance blog. Know of any such beast?
Say you’re in town this weekend and want to see a play. As your in-town source for exciting events at UTA, I can tell you that you’re in luck, because Urinetown opens tonight.
I’ve just ordered this dress by Kiyonna. It’s more than I want to spend, but I love its modest, elegant, and classy style. I hope it looks as good on me as it does this sassy model.
I am tired of looking for a wedding dress. Is it too much to ask for a simple, below-the-knee to mid-calf length, ivory or white, plus-size dress that is maybe a little bit modest for under $200? I don’t think I’m being too demanding.
Today, I gave myself a papercut on a 6-pack of underwear. That’s talent, folks.
